In celebration the Philippine Independence month, The Peninsula Manila whips up, for the very first time, an all-Filipino Afternoon Tea at The Lobby, featuring all-time local favorites and comfort food prepared by the hotel's team of talented Filipino chefs, led by Executive Sous Chef Ed Maddela. Savor classic Pinoy dishes such as Champorado (sweet chocolate rice porridge) paired with Tuyo (salty dried fish), Ensaladang Talong at Mangga (eggplant salad with mangoes), Chicken Empanada, Pancit Palabok (noodle dish with shrimp sauce), Arroz Caldo (rice congee in ginger and chicken broth), Puto't Dinuguan and a variety of kakanin (rice cakes).
A tribute to Filipino cuisine and culture, the food festival will also feature a diverse selection of Pinoy breads, baked goodies and local desserts such as Ube Ensaymada, Chicken Adobo Pan de Sal, Ginataan, Leche Flan, Maja Blanca, Cassava Cake, Turon (banana fritters) and Langka Ice Cream.
