The effects left by Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013 across the Philippines were devastating, and The Peninsula Hotels has since established ‘Hope For The Philippines’– a group-wide initiative to raise funds for Philippine-based Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. to help rebuild homes and communities.
‘Tea of Hope’, a special rendition of the signature Peninsula Afternoon Tea was served in The Lobby. Focusing on the tropical fruits of the Philippines, the special tea featured mango, coconut, banana and pineapple flavours. The Peninsula Manila’s sister hotels around the world also lent a helping hand, serving the iconic Filipino dessert Halo-Halo. In both efforts, 100 percent of the proceeds were donated to ‘Hope For The Philippines’. The Peninsula Hotels also made a donation of US$5 per room per night, with guests able to make additional contributions upon checking out.
In addition, The Peninsula Hotels' annual group-wide ‘Trees of Hope’ fundraising campaign for 2013 was dedicated to ‘Hope For The Philippines’ with beautiful specially created SnowPage glass ornaments for guests making a donation to take home.
